Additions to SITT Autumn
Independent on and off-trade buyers on the lookout for wines seeking UK distribution or something new to revive their ranges should head to SITT Autumn on September 24.
Burridges of Arlington Street will be unveiling four new additions - the new Flor d'Englora range from Cellers Baronia, DO Monstant; Vinya d'Irto Garnacha Blanca and Via Terra Garnacha Tint from Terra Alta; Prios Maximus wines from Pesquera de Duero; and Vinem Joven Red and Vinem Crianza from DO Cariñena.
New to the UK market and seeking a distributor are Oregon wineries' Adelsheim Vineyards, Chehalem Vineyards and Montinore Vineyards, all based in the Willamette Valley.
Richmond Wine Agencies will be showing Botham Merrill Willis - a collaborative creation from cricketing legends Ian Botham, Bob Willis and Aussie winemaker Geoff Merrill.
Bancroft Wines will be at the tasting to showcase its two new Spanish wineries. Bodegas Gargalo in DO Monterrei offers a 2011 Albariño/Treixadura and a Godello; and Carisma in DO Pirineos will be showing its Alsatian-style Carisma Riesling Gewürztraminer 2011.
From Oakley Wine Agencies is a new UK exclusive from Brazil. Virtus hails from the Basso Winery in Serra Gaucha and includes a 2012 Chardonnay and Moscato, as well as a 2011 Merlot and Tannat.
Argentinian specialist importers Las Bodegas will be braching out with a selection of wines not from Argentina, as well as some new wines from its more traditional source. Chief executive Laurie Webster said the move was about offering its customers something different and "not an attempt to go head to head with much larger, more ‘generalist' suppliers". "We have been sourcing some quite esoteric wines and are presenting them under labels that we have developed specifically for the independents," he added.
SITT Autumn, incorporating the Boutique Wineries Tasting, will take place at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5BY. For the lowdown on all the new launches at the event, go to sittastings.com.
