Diageo has introduced a new Drink IQ tool as part of its commitment to help consumers drink responsibly.

The new mobile-friendly online resource provides consumers with the information they need to make positive decisions about drinking responsibly, including alcohol content across different types of drinks; how to track individual alcohol intake; how alcohol is processed and the different ways it can affect your body, alongside information on how to pour a standard measure of beer, wine and spirit.

Available in the UK, US and Australia now with localised versions rolling out to 20 other countries in the coming months, the tool also debunks "common myths" around alcohol, such as "if I eat a lot of greasy food, I can drink more", said Diageo.

The tool had been added to raise collective knowledge about alcohol and would allow "anyone anywhere" to quickly get the tips they might need to "make the right choices for them", said director of alcohol & society at Diageo, Carolyn Panzer, adding it was the next stage in the drink giant's commitment to help consumers make informed choices about drinking, or choosing not to drink.

Diageo has been providing face-to-face Drink IQ training to groups around the world for over a decade, including members of US Congress, the Ministry of Health in countries such as Peru, law enforcement officials in countries including Thailand, taxi drivers in markets such as Ethiopia, as well as bartenders and hospitality workers globally.

"We're really proud of how well our Drink IQ training has been received over the past 10 years - there is clearly a desire for this kind of information," said Panzer.
