V&S opens new Absolut bottling plant

V&S Absolut Spirits has marked the opening of its new bottling plant in Åhus.

Eskil Erlandsson, Swedish Minister of Agriculture, announced the inauguration of the plant.

The facility will have the capacity to handle 20 million bottles a year.

Ketil Eriksen, President of the V&S Absolut Spirits business area, commented on the development.

He said: “On several important markets around the world we're seeing a significant increase in consumer demand. Absolut Vodka has double-digit growth on several of our key markets.”

Planning for the project began in October 2005 with construction finishing on August 30 2007.

V&S already has bottling facilities in Åhus and currently produces in the region of 500,000 bottles of Absolut Vodka a day.
