WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) will unveil findings from its major Glassrite Wine project at the London International Wine Fair (LIWF).
It will launch new reports on the impact of bulk shipping on product quality, cost and carbon emissions, and the strength, performance and consumer appeal of lightweight glass bottles.
WRAP will be holding a briefing session at LIWF, featuring a range of industry speakers, entitled 'Bottling wine in a changing climate', on Tuesday May 20, 1.30pm-2.30pm, in the South Gallery Rooms 11/12.
Nicola Jenkin, WRAP's Category Manager for Beverages said: “Bulk importing, using lightweight glass packaging and increasing recycled content can deliver impressive environmental and cost savings, as an increasing number of retailers and producers can attest. However, both issues remain the subject of considerable discussion within the industry.
“We will be contributing to the debate at LIWF, by launching a series of new reports that take a detailed and objective look at all the key issues. Delegates will also get to hear from industry professionals who have trialled these processes, and test out the upgraded 'Ready Reckoner' available on the WRAP website, which enables organisations to identify potential cost and environmental savings through lightweighting and bulk importation."
