Vinitaly visitor levels at an all time high

Around 150,000 visitors descended on Vinitaly, held in Verona on April 3-7.

Vinitaly dubbed the largest wine show in the world said the visitor numbers were its highest ever.

Now in its 42nd year, the show saw a 15% increase in foreign visitors (45,000).

Around 2,700 journalists from over 50 countries also attended the show, according to Vinitaly.

Vinitaly's road show, ¬ now in its 10th year, will kick off in Russia on June 9-12.

The second leg of the journey will take place in the US – Chicago, New York and Washington - from October 27-20.

The Asia appointments will include Japan and China in November 2008, closing with India in January 2009.

The first debut of Vinitaly Brazil is also currently being planned for the beginning of 2009.

The show itself will take place in Verona from April 2-6.
