Read more about

Christine Vernay from the George Vernay Estate has been awarded Expert of the Year 2008 in Wine and Winemaking.

The presentation will be made by the European Grand Jury, which is headed up by François Mauss, on April 25.

Vernay said: “I am very honoured to receive this prize which rewards the George Vernay Estate's Cote-Rotie as well as Condrieu wines.

“Impassioned by Syrah and Viognier grapes, my daily work in our vineyard and in the cellar turns to the creation of wines which delicately underline the complexity of the soils of the Northern part of Rhone Valley.”

Sommeliers Andreas Larsson and Olivier Poussier form part of The European Grand Jury panel along with wine consultants Stéphane Derenoncourt and Anthony Hanson.
