Marc Bolland, the Morrisons chief executive, pocketed a bonus of £706,000 last year, according to the company's annual report.

The bonus was nearly as much as his annual base salary of £721,000, which rises to £757,000 this year.

Group store operations director Mark Gunter received a bonus of £502,000 on top of his £515,000 salary.

And Martyn Jones, group trading director, pocketed an annual bonus of £380,000 – £25,000 more than his salary.
