Australian Vintage launches wine-based sparkler Vinni
A "new category" called Vinni (rrp £3.49) has been launched by Australian Vintage for consumers who enjoy wine but with a less alcohol and more fizz.
The wine-based sparkling drink made from Moscato grapes harvested in the cooler-climate regions of New South Wales, Australia, is now available to retailers and is aimed at attracting a new and younger audience to the wine category.
Presented in a 56.8cl glass crown seal bottle, it takes its design cues from the beer and cider categories, and is meant to be served as a long drink over ice for those who like wine but are looking for a longer, less alcoholic drink.
Julian Dyer, general manager for UK and Europe at Australian Vintage, said: "We are always looking to innovate and use our insight to create new products that challenge but also respond to what we believe the market and the consumer wants. Vinni is a departure for Australian Vintage and one which we are very excited about."
He added: "We have put a lot of work into the quality of the Moscato that goes into the bottle in order to give consumers the best possible drinking experience. We believe that this lighter, less-alcoholic wine-based product will open up a whole new avenue for wine, appealing to younger audiences who perhaps have not tried it before and the support we have received from our trading partners demonstrates that they too feel Vinni has a great future ahead of it."
