Boutinot, the Manchester-based wine importer, is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for a cancer charity this month with a 410 bike ride from Champagne to Cairanne.‘Le Tour de Boutinot France’ will see a team of 11 (10 men and one woman) made up of Boutinot staff members and customers make the trip between May 11 and May 17.
The tour will take in some of the wines that Boutinot distributes in the UK, including Champagne Gremillet and Champagne Lallier and then in to Burgundy with Vallet-Frères. The finish line in the southern Rhône will be at the company’s own wine estate in Cairanne, home of its Fide et Arte range.
The team, a mixture of experienced cyclists and lapsed riders have been in training for the last six months ago. They include Dennis Whitely and Michael Moriarty, who now head up the business following its recent management buyout. Customers on the charity ride include Betton Wines (North Yorkshire) and The Cattle Grid (London).
