Chapel Down launches in France at Paris Fashion Week

Published:  24 January, 2017

Kent-based winery Chapel Down celebrated its launch in the French market with a high-profile event to open Paris Fashion Week last night.

The event on the Place Vendôme was a partnership with British haute-couture fashion Ralph and Russo accompanied by music from US artist Nelly.

Premium wine importer Perles Du Monde is working with Chapel Down to distribute its wines in the French on-trade.

Mark Harvey, managing director of Chapel Down, said: "I am humbled and excited to think that Chapel Down will now be served at some of the finest establishments in France - a country with such a long and successful history in the world of sparkling wine.

"The initial reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. And what an occasion at which to launch - in the heart of Paris's first arrondissement, the home of some of the world's finest luxury brands."

Philippe Gauthier, founder of Perles du Monde and former general manager at Champagne Bollinger, said: "We are delighted to set up our partnership of English Sparkling Wines with Chapel Down. The French market, particularly at the premium end, is open and excited to discover new quality sparkling wines from wonderful origins other than France."

Chapel Down launched in the US in October. Its wines are also available internationally in the Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Singapore markets, among others.

Sales at the winery were up 26% to £4 million in the first half of 2016.

Earlier this month, it became an official partner to The Boat Race as part of a four-year sponsorship deal.
