Published:  19 November, 2015

Enotria has announced the appointment of Dirceu Vianna Junior MW as wine director.

Known to many as Junior, Vianna was most recently wine director for the Coe Group in the UK, where he has been instrumental in building a formidable portfolio of wines.

Enotria acquired Coe Vintners in August 2015.

Troy Christensen, Enotria chief executive, said: "As we've said from the outset, we are creating a unique platform to provide the on-trade with an unmatched portfolio, best-in-class service, category insight and market activation.

"Junior's appointment strengthens the future of the combined business, and as we see the true potential of this premium positioning come to life, it certainly is an exciting time. "

Jon Pepper MW, director of buying and retail, said: "We are really delighted to welcome Junior to the team. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and passion.

"At Coe Vintners he has built a fantastic portfolio and our ambition is to enhance and develop the premium wine, spirits and Champagne market as a whole.

"Junior is currently reviewing both portfolios with the Enotria buying team in order to develop the ideal combined range.

"He will also be developing our portfolio of up-and-coming regions of the wine world to ensure that our line-up of producers and products remains market-leading and innovative".

Vianna was born in Brazil. He moved to London in 1989 and joined the wine trade the following year, gaining extensive experience in on-trade sales.

In 2008, he became the first South American man to become a Master of Wine.
