How can Champagne help the trade through the tough times? That's the question Harpers will be addressing at its third annual Champagne Summit, taking place on February 28, 2012 at a new venue for the event.

London's Chiswell Street Dining Rooms will play host to the one day summit, which has been designed to show the industry how Champagne can keep its place in an ever-competitive sparkling market and the importance of maintaining its image in the UK.

The Champagne Summit 2012 will offer an interactive and learning experience to the UK on and off-trade drinks buyer by way of panel debates, masterclasses, themed tastings, research and - launched in 2011 - Harpers' Champagne Awards.

In a market saturated with deep discounts, the central debate will address how Champagne can remain true to its luxury roots and keep the fizz and glamour alive with examples from both within Champange and other luxury sectors.

Among those sitting on the panel will be Essi Avellan MW, editor of FINE Champagne magazine; Richard Brierley, head of fine wine at Vanquish Wines; and Brendan Stegmann, beverage manager at Kettner's Restaurant & Champagne Bar. They will be joined by Searcy's Michelle Cartwright, Dee Blackstock from Waitrose and expert Champagne Jayne, aka Jayne Powell, who is travelling from Australia to take part.

How to get involved

With Champagne Taittinger, Champagne de Castelnau and Laurent-Perrier already signed up as Summit partners, only four more partner spots remain. Brands wanting to find out more about getting involved should contact Freddie Johnson.

Registration is open now via thechampagnesummit.co.uk or email Helena Merrell.
