Pernod Ricard owned, Havana Club, has launched a double album of Cuban music with Gilles Peterson.

Its the latest phase its global art initiative, Havana Cultura, and the second time the premium rum brand has worked with the DJ and music producer.

Havana Club launched Havana Cultura in 2007 as a platform to allow Cuban artists to showcase their work and the spirit of Havana globally via its interactive website.

The new album aims to showcase the freshest musical talent, and provide the world with a window on cutting-edge Cuban creativity.

'Gilles Peterson Presents Havana Cultura: The Search Continues' (CD1) is an original studio recording featuring a string of leading contemporary musicians from Havana.

'The New Cuban Underground' (CD2) is a snapshot of Cuba's music underground in 2011 and contains tracks from the freshest Cuban talent at work in the artistic hothouses of Havana.

Patrick Venning, head of marketing, Pernod Ricard UK, says: "We're proud to be able to showcase some of Cuba's biggest musical talent to new audiences here in the UK.

"By giving people the chance to really experience a taste of Cuba through this music and our supporting activity; we hope that they become advocates of Havana Club and the Cuban passion and heritage that the brand represents."

To celebrate the launch, Peterson previewed a number of his new tracks with the Havana Cultura Band on Saturday November 19,  during a live set at Electric Brixton.
