Calls for industry support for Benevolent Ball

Published:  06 February, 2012

The drinks industry charity, The Benevolent has called for industry wide support for this year's Benevolent Ball, to be held in March.

Due an average of 16 pubs closing per week across the country and unemployment in the UK increasing to 2.62 million in late 2011, its chief executive Paul Newman, is urging companies to support those in the trade who need help.

Founded 125 years ago, the charity says in recent years it has become more relevant than ever before.

Newman said: "Given the current economic climate we believe that it is essential that we show our support to those in need at The Benevolent Ball.

"With an increasing number from the trade facing economic and medical hardship it is more important than ever that we provide assistance to our vulnerable co-workers past and present and their loved ones."

Those who sign up to the evening will enjoy a Mumm sponsored Champagne reception, followed by a four course meal accompanied by wines and spirits from event sponsors.

Guests are also offered the chance to serve their own wines at the table, providing a great opportunity to promote their products and company to their table guests.

Entertainment will include money can't buy prizes in the auction, plus a live band and casino.

The event will take place at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane on March 8, with all proceeds from the night supporting those from the drinks industry who have encountered serious hardship.

Tickets cost £150 eleanorperry@thebenevolent.org.uk.
