Unwins appoints new marketing director

The Unwins Wine Group, which recently underwent a period of restructuring, as it attempts to rebuild its business, has appointed a marketing director to reposition' the company as a leading edge retailer'. Ian McLernon, 29, joined Unwins recently from Coors Brewing, where he held the role of European marketing manager for the Coors Light brand. McLernon's career has been focused within the UK alcoholic drinks sector, with various sales and marketing roles at Bass Brewers, including working on Hooper's Hooch; First Quench, where he was marketing manager for Drinks Retailing; and, latterly, Coors Brewing. Philip Wetz, Unwins' wine group director, said of the appointment: Ian will be a tremendous asset in the development and realisation of Unwins' future strategic plans and will further facilitate our repositioning'.
