First Drinks  owned Mateus Rosé Original has moved to a screwcap enclosure and redesigned its packaging to celebrate its 70-year anniversary.

A colour change to subtle tones of pink, an image of the Mateus Palace, plus an updated logo complete the look, which will also be rolled out across the Shiraz, Sparkling Brut Rosé and Sparkling Demi-Sec variants from this month.

The launch is being supported by a PR and CRM summer marketing campaign that includes neck-collar promotion of £1-off vouchers and a chance to win a limited edition Mateus box set containing wine and a set of glasses.

Paul Curry, brand manager for Mateus at First Drinks, said: "Rosé continues to be hugely popular with British wine drinkers and within this market, Mateus has a hugely loyal fan base.

"However, it is important we recognise the brand's potential and continue to recruit new drinkers. By modernising the packaging we hope to appeal to both new and existing Mateus drinkers to ensure the sustained growth of the brand."
