International Brands-owned Makulu wines from South Africa are now available through the forecourt sector, via distributors Palmer & Harvey.

The wines are positioned and priced for chilled as well as ambient impulse sales (rrp £5.99-£6.49) and include: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz, Pinotage rosé and new Sauvignon Blanc.

International Brands is also launching a new brand identity for the range, which includes new labelling to underline the brand's pride in its Western Cape heritage and the support it gives to its community of workers at the Imbuko Winery where Makulu is produced.

In addition, the varietal range is supported by a selection of entry-level winemaker's blends, launched in 2011 (rrp £5.29).

The winery prides itself on its sustainable farming methods and its ethical employment policies, and sales of Makulu go towards supporting the winery's crèche and education centre, which benefits the children of those who work to produce and distribute the wines.

Sales director Paul Hinks said: "In 2012, International Brands' wine business has seen the launch of new branding underlining the serious focus the company is putting behind its wine portfolio.

"Ours is a successful, family-run business already with a creditable £17 million turnover. We are delighted that the new-look Makulu line up is now available through Palmer & Harvey, as we are confident this range is ideal for forecourt customers."
