DAVIS TAKES THE REINS AT HARPERS

Published:  23 July, 2008

Christian Davis is taking over the editorship of Harpers from the departing Tim Atkin MW. Davis, the current deputy editor, will take the reins from 28 July, the day Harpers arrives at its new home in Swanley, Kent. I am very pleased to be taking over the editorship of the magazine and I aim to uphold the high standards shown by the Harpers team over the past few years,' said Davis, 49, from Purley. The Harpers hot seat is the sixth editor's post for Davis, who has previously been in charge of The Publican, Catering, Club Mirror, Convenience Store and Harpers-on-Retail. His drinks trade career began on The Morning Advertiser, after stints on regional newspapers. Atkin, who is leaving to concentrate on his freelance career, said: I am, of course, extremely sad to be leaving Harpers, but I'm pleased to be leaving the magazine in such capable hands. I enjoyed my time on the magazine immensely, and wish to thank everyone in the trade for their support during my tenure. I also wish Christian all the best for the future.' A new deputy editor will be announced in the near future. Harpers' new address is: Highbury-Harpers, Nexus House, Azalea Drive, Swanley, Kent BR8 8HU. Tel: 01322 660070. Email addresses remain the same. Samples for Tim Atkin should be sent to his home address. Contact him on tjatkin@aol.com
