New group winemaker for Waipara Hills

Published:  26 November, 2012

Kiwi winery Waipara Hills has appointed former Lion New Zealand director Ben Glover as its new group winemaker.

Glover's responsibilities will include leading an experienced winemaking team and working closely with company and grower vineyards in Marlborough, Central Otago and Waipara.

Chief executive MJ Loza said Waipara Hills is "thrilled to have someone with Ben's winemaking expertise, commercial acumen and industry profile join the team."

Nicolas Bauer, director at Free Run Wines, Waipara Hills UK partner, said: "Glover's expertise in the production of high quality Pinot Noir is an excellent fit with the quality of wines Waipara Hills produce. The quality of the company's vineyards in Central Otago and Waipara is already recognised and, with over 15 vintages under his belt, Ben's expertise will certainly help to continue to drive that quality forward."

Glover joins his brother Jack at Waipara Hills, who holds the senior management position of head of global sales and marketing across the company's portfolio.

Waipara Hills wines are available through Sainsbury's, Tesco.com and the Co-operative.
