Enotria takes on Californian Cannonball Wine Company

Published:  23 January, 2013

Enotria has announced California's Cannonball Wine Company will be joining the Enotria USA portfolio.

Based in Healdsburg, California, Cannonball Wine Company was founded in 2006 by Yoav Gilat, a drinks brand marketing and business development consultant, and winemaker Dennis Hill, who has 30 years' experience across producers such as Seghesio, Alexander Valley and Blackstone.

Enotria will take on Cannonball's flagship wines: Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from April 1. California buyer, Harriet Kininmonth, said: "California is trendy right now; we see an opportunity in gastropubs and groups where the US sense of style is a perfect fit. There is huge quality in the region. Cannonball appealed to us with its clear direction, very upbeat, eye-catching labels, and of course the wines which varietally are bang on the money."

Gilat said Cannonball had been waiting to enter the UK market, but wanted to find the perfect partner that understood its brand and philosophy. "Cannonball speaks to a new generation of wine consumers, those wanting to explore their own tastes and discover what is appealing to them, not necessarily drink what their grandparents were drinking. In the past, California wines have been misrepresented in the U.K with inexpensive, mass-produced, nondescript wines. I believe this market is primed to dive in to the luscious California style of Cannonball and experience a fresh splash," he added.

Cannonball will be at the Enotria Annual Tasting on February 26.
