Top trade panel lined up to discuss upcoming wines at Emerging Regions Tasting

Harpers Emerging Regions Tasting on May 1 will kick off with an industry debate featuring key buyers from both the on and off-trades who will discuss the opportunities wines from up-and-coming countries and regions have in their businesses.

The debate starts at 10am and will include James Griswood from Tesco, Charlie Young of Vinoteca, Henry Butler of Butlers Wine Cellars, Ted Sandbach of Oxford Wine Company, Robin David of Swig, Hamish Anderson from the Tate Group, Miles Corish, Bowland Forest Vintners and Arnaud Compas, Bedales Wines.

The session will be chaired by Andrew Catchpole and whilst he will discussing the views of the panel members, visitors will also be allowed to take part and discuss the merits of emerging regions wines.

The tasting, which is being held at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2, officially starts at 10.30am and will feature wines from a diverse range of countries and wine regions including: Croatia, Georgia, Turkey, Lebanon, Hungary, Slovenia, Brazil, Sardinia, Macedonia, Malta, the Canary Islands and Oregon.

There will also be the chance to discover smaller regions from more established countries such as Austria, Argentina, Chile and Australia.

As well as specialist importers for the respective countries the tasting has also attracted major wine suppliers including Bibendum, Liberty Wines and Hallgarten Druitt.

There will be a masterclass on Turkish wines presented by Peter McCombie between 12pm and 12.45pm.
