Barclaycard has launched an offers scheme tailored to its customers' spending habits and lifestyle preferences, which includes around 5,000 offers from hundreds of retailers including Tesco, House of Fraser, Shell and Virgin Wines.

Bespoke Offers highlights items customers might be interested in, based on purchases they have made before.

Valerie Soranno-Keating, chief executive of Barclaycard, said: "Barclaycard has been in the business of helping consumers to make payments and retailers take payments since 1966. We see how much UK consumers are trying to squeeze more out of every pound they spend and how UK retailers are struggling to provide incentives to the right customers to encourage more sales.

"We created bespoke offers for every consumer and retailer in the UK. We estimate that if the typical UK consumer made maximum use of bespoke offers across their household spend they could potentially save as much as £2,100 per year. For UK retailers this could amount to tens of millions of pounds in additional sales.

"And it also delivers insights to merchants that will help them grow their business. It's a win/win for the UK market!"

Trade-related offers on the site include £50 off selected cases of wine at Virgin Wines, 5% discount on all orders at Serenata Wines, Australian white wine - £24 per case via Tesco.com and a Vinopolis London wine experience for two for £55 via BuyaGift.
