Vagabond Wines to open second site

Published:  09 July, 2013

Independent wine merchant Vagabond Wines is to open a second site that will take its tasting-focused model to London's West End.

Following the success of its Fulham branch, which saw it win Independent Merchant of the Year (up to three stores) in the 2013 Harpers Awards, Vagabond Wines is due to open a second site in Charlotte Street in October.

Stephen Finch, Vagabond's managing director, said the new store will follow the same model of the original Fulham shop by offering 100 wines to taste on tap.

In addition, he said, it will "press home its advantage of tastings", by expanding the food offer that comprises a selection of cheese and charcuterie platters matched to the wines.

He confirmed the new unit will continue his stance of offering wines from obscure wine regions around the world.

He said there will be an greater emphasis on in the in-store experience at the new Charlotte Street site, with more comfortable seating provided. "We are selling the experience, not just the product," he said.
