Micheli to consolidate Euro market

SOUTHCORP has moved swiftly to name a successor to Mike Paul, who will leave the company at the end of the year. Mario Micheli, until recently territory director, Western Europe, for brewer Anheuser-Busch International, will take over as regional director, Southcorp Wines, Europe on 2 January . Before joining Anheuser-Busch, Micheli was marketing manager for the Danone Group, where he was responsible for the Spa Birra Peroni international brand portfolio. Tom Park, general manager of Southcorp Wines, commented: "Europe is our biggest export market, with sales exceeding A$200 million. Mr Micheli's appointment will be an important link in consolidating this market." Micheli's experience in establishing Budweiser as a major brand in 14 countries in his previous job as director of sales and marketing at Anheuser-Busch, as well as his contacts with distributors, will "add to the strength of the existing Southcorp team in Europe", Park added.
