Space-saving bag-in-box wines introduced for on-trade outlets

Published:  03 October, 2013

Pacta Connect has introduced a new 5-litre bag-in-box wine range for on-trade outlets, which is designed to sit behind the bar and dramatically cut back on storage.

The new Lispida bag-in-box wines are the equivalent to six and a half bottles of wine, 40 x 125ml serves, and the equivalent of 10.5kg in glass, and are targeted at those outlets looking to offer more wines by the glass and different carafe sizes.

"The space saving is extraordinary," said Pacta Connect director, Judith Burns, and the boxes have a shelf life of three months.

They have been designed by Italian natural wine producer Castello di Lispida and include a Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla (12% abv) and a red blend of Sangiovese and Merlot (13% abv). Both wines are unfiltered and have a trade price of £38.50 (ex-VAT). The packaging can also be completely recycled, added Burns.

Croatian wine specialist Pacta Connect said it was slowly building up distribution in the UK and now has wines listed by two-Michelin-starred chef Sat Bains.
