Jean Lenoir releases educational tool Le Nez du Whisky

Published:  22 October, 2013

Jean Lenoir, the famed "Nose" and creator of the Le Nez du Vin, is releasing a new book-style case with 54 aromas focused on the different essences of whisky with Le Nez du Whisky.

The different aromas included in the kit can help educate and train whisky enthusiasts and comprise a range of fruity, spicy, floral, peaty, toasted, woody, vinous and phenolic scents. Le Nez du Whisky is a tool to help identify and train the olfactory memory of single malts and other whiskies found around the world.

A quarter of a century ago, in the small town of Chalon-sur-Saône in Burgundy, Jean Lenoir, then a novice wine enthusiast, set out to solve the problem of identifying specific aromas that could be detected in wine. In 1981, Lenoir released the first edition of Le Nez du Vin, which captures the scents of different aromatic characteristic found in different types of wine. He is now applying the same system to whisky.

Le Nez du Whisky is available from Hedonism Wines, Harrods, Selfridges and Berry Bros & Rudd, and carries an rrp of £300; Birchgrove Products is the exclusive agent in the UK.
