London Cru opens for tours and supper clubs

Published:  08 November, 2013

Central London's first urban winery is officially open for tours starting this Saturday, 9 November, where it will host tours for the public along with other opportunities throughout the month, like  becoming a winemaker for a day or dining in the barrel room with a series of  supper clubs the winery will be hosting.

The fully-functioning urban winery hosted its official launch party on 6 November, where Cliff Roberson, the head of the internationally known wine merchant Roberson Wines and Will Tomlinson another financial backer of the London Cru winery project, welcomed guests to check out the brand new facilities.

Gavin Monrey, the head winemaker, also treated guests to a taste of the the first vintage Chardonnay to come out of Central London and which is still in the process of going through malolactic fermentation.

The first monthly supper club to be hosted at the London Cru winery will be in partnership with Nathan Green, head chef at Tom Seller's Michelin starred Restaurant Story on Monday, November 11th, from 7-10pm. Nathan, who was previously named 'Young Chef of the Year' and who has worked at other top Michelin starred restaurants including Tom Aikens and Arbutus, will be showcasing his own creations for the first time, cooking a tasting menu of seasonal British food and each course will be matched with an accompanying wine.

Additionally, the winery will be offering the opportunity to be a winemaker for the day one Saturday per month, giving guests the opportunity to blend their own wine to take home.
