A growing number of prominent wine buyers and producers are set to participate in The Wine Buyers' Forum, Windsor 2014, the first of a new kind of event, organised by the publishers of Harpers.

Windsor 2014 enables invite-only suppliers and buyers to pre-schedule tailor-made agendas of one-to-one 25 minute meetings. It will be held at the Beaumont Estate in Windsor and will run from 10am on March 10 until 2pm on March 11.

Buyers signed up to attend will have a combined buying power of £150 million or an average buying budget of £2.2 million per participant, and are looking for wines from all over the world.

With regard to Old World wines, 81% of particpating buyers say they are interested in discovering wines from Spain, 80% are also looking at discovering wines from France, and 73% of them are looking to source wines from Italy.

New World wines are also being sought by participating buyers, with 75% of buyers reporting they will be looking to purchase wines from Australia and 73% of buyers looking for New Zealand wines. Moreover, 69% of buyers are looking for both Argentine and Chilean wines while 65% of buyers declare themselves to be looking for South African wines.

Buyers signed up include those from Michelin-rated restaurants, hotels, merchants and suppliers, as well as senior buyers from major groups such as Greene King.

The agenda is set, so buyers and producers can maximize the time used to meet one-to-one, and buyers will also have the opportunity to attend workshops that will be running throughout the two days. There will also be opportunities to network with other suppliers and buyers at the informal networking lunches, drinks reception and dinner.
