Windsor 2014 attracts key players with collective buying power of over £222m

Up to two thirds of the buyers signed up for the Windsor 2014 Wine Buyers' Forum are from the independent on and off-trade sectors whilst the collective buying power of all the buyers attending is now over £222m.

Windsor 2014 is a new wine buying event organised by the publishers of Harpers.co.uk. It will allow up to 150 senior buyers from all channels of the industry to host a series of back to back meetings with suppliers who have signed up to present new wines and discuss sales opportunities.

The independent off-trade makes up 35% of those buyers that have registered to attend, 32% are from the independent on-trade, 10% are multiple off-trade buyers, 13% multiple on-trade with the remaining from other areas of the industry.

The average buyer attending Windsor 2014 will have an individual buying responsibility of £2,616, 705 with an overall collective buying power of £222, 420,000.  Nearly 80% are interested in sourcing premium or fine wine and mid tier wines.

Spain is the most popular country, closely followed by France, as the region buyers are most interested in sourcing wines from. Next in the list come Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile and Argentina.  

The two day event will also include a series of trading workshops covering topics such as social media, buying and negotiating skills, buying direct, marketing, and channel management.

Windsor 2014: The Wine Buyers runs between March 10-11 and will be held at the Beaumont Estate in Windsor.
