Growth of London Cocktail Week leads to sale

Published:  19 February, 2014

The founders of London Cocktail Week have sold the business after it has grown to include two new events for 2014 - London Wine Week and Hong Kong Cocktail Week.

Odd Firm of Sin, the founding company which also owns diffordsguide.com and book publishing interests, sold the event to a newly-created firm ABV Global, which is backed by Speciality Drinks.

ABV Global is headed up by London Cocktail Week's original founder Hannah Sharman-Cox, and the whole team behind LCW have moved across to the new ownership.

Speciality Drinks is run by Raj and Sukhinder Singh, who own the Whisky Exchange and supply the on-trade with a range of premium spirits. The brothers also already run the consumer event the Whisky Show, which takes place during London Cocktail Week.

This year London Wine Week will take place form June 2 to 8, in partnership with the organisers of the newly revamped London Wine Fair at Kensington's Olympia. Ross Carter, LWF director, recently told harpers.co.uk that it was targeting 10,000 consumers with London Wine Week in year one. The event will run in the capital's on-trade venues.

London Cocktail Week will take place between October 6 and 12 2014.
