New Merlot from Jacob's Creek

Published:  23 July, 2008

Company responds to consumer demand

Caxton Wines unveiled its new Jacob's Creek single varietal at the Australia Day tastings in London last week. Jacob's Creek Merlot will be available from April with a recommended retail price of 5.99. The company says that it is responding to consumer demand for greater choice in the Jacob's Creek range. It increases the brand appeal and creates a credible red range. As the second most consumer recognised red varietal (after Cabernet Sauvignon) Merlot provides the consumer with a varietal they are familiar with. Caxton, with four red Jacob's Creek wines in its portfolio, hopes consumers will experiment and trade up within the portfolio. It will be available to multiple retailers, convenience stores, cash & carry, multiple specialist, wholesale and on-trade outlets.
