Wines of Argentina's Cambalache event sells 600 tickets in three and half hours

Published:  28 March, 2014

Wines of Argentina's Cambalache Nights event, which went on sale through "London's underground events" website The Nudge yesterday, sold 600 tickets in just three and half hours.

Tickets sold so fast that Andrew Maidment, Europe and Asia manager for Wines of Argentina had to put on stop on sales so that he can keep a further 250 additional tickets back to sell over the coming days through websites like the London Evening Standard and Urban Junkies.

The wine event hopes to replicate the edginess of the streets of Buenos Aires and is returning to London on April 30 and May 1 with tickets selling for £40 per person which includes food and drinks.

Last year's event, which was the first of its kind for the wine trade, featured an urban-style themed street fair and sold out within 24 hours.

This year's Camblache event will feature street food vendors serving traditional Argentinian food, Tango street dancing, several street graffiti artists and an outdoor area resembling the famous San Telmo Sunday market in Buenos Aires.

Over 150 wines will be poured and this year there will be a Fernet Branca stall, one of the sponsors of the event, including one of the Branca family, and a bar run by the Gaucho Group of specialist Argentinian restaurants. Other sponsors include British Airways and Quilmes beer. The generic body will also run the event in New York and Buenos Aires.

The event will be held at MC Motors in Dalston.
