Next Bordeaux Vinexpo set for June 14-18 2015

Published:  12 May, 2014

The next French Vinexpo exhibition will be held in Bordeaux, from June 14 to 18, 2015.

In the meantime the exhibition will hold a show targeting Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong from May 27 to 29, as well as Vinexpo Nippon, a new show to be held in Japan on November 1 and 2, 2014.

The 2015 Bordeaux show will be the 18th, and organisers are planning to include a host of new features. The biennial event takes place in Bordeaux every odd-numbered year, and attracts 48,000 visitors from 135 countries as well as 2,400 exhibitors, who represent 45 producer countries.

Since 1998, the organisers have held a Vinexpo Asia Pacific in the off-years, usually in Hong Kong.

Earlier this year, Vinexpo's new chief executive Guillaume Deglise told harpers.co.uk of his plans to modernise the show. Deglise is looking to internationalise the Vinexpo brand and ensure it is not perceived as a French only event.

Deglise, although open to running events in new markets around the world, still says the biennial Bordeaux show is "the number-one priority". He is hopeful that the Japanese show in November will become a benchmark for other similar smaller shows in key cities around the world. Although keen to internationalise the brand, Deglise is wary of rushing into new markets, but did not rule out an Americas show in future.

"I don't think Vinexpo should go to totally new places, new markets. What our customers want is a good return on investment and that is always difficult if you go to a new market."
