Rioja Tapas Fantasticas, the award-winning Spanish food and wine festival, is to return to London's South Bank for the seventh year running between June 14 and 15.

The event, which has been widely regarded as a trend setter in how wine generic bodies promote their region or country's wines, is once organise by Wines from Rioja.

This year's event will see 40 wineries from across Rioja travel to London to showcase their wines alongside a wide selection of Spanish food, featuring many of the big name London tapas restaurants, including José, Camino, Morito, and Bravas Tapas.

A key feature of this year's Tapas Fantasticas will be a new food and wine experience called 'The Rioja and Foods From Spain Tapas Theatre' which will give visitors the chance to hear about and better understand Spain's and, in particular, Rioja's rich food and wine heritage.

The Tapas Theatre will see leading Spanish culinary figure, chef José Pizarro, host  a series of tapas and Rioja matching masterclasses alongside the festival's wine experts, Olly Smith and Susy Atkins. Foods from Spain will also be presenting a series of sessions focused on Spanish products including jamón ibérico, olive oil, Spanish cheeses, and spices such as saffron and pimentón.

Smith and Atkins will also host a series of wine workshops, including special walks around the featured winemakers to help bring the wines from Rioja alive to visitors.

In the build up to Tapas Fantasticas, Wines from Rioja has linked up with a number of London restaurants to help promote and raise awareness of tapas and Spanish wines with its Taste Tapas Fantasticas initiative. This will see a number of restaurants offering a complimentary tapas or light dish with every glass of Rioja bought up to June 16.

Restaurants that have signed up include Ametsa with Arzak Instruction, Anise at Cinnamon Club, Bread Street Kitchen, Fino, José, Merchant's Tavern, plus many more.

Wines from Rioja will also be offering rewards at Rioja Tapas Fantasticas for diners taking advantage of Taste Tapas Fantasticas via a loyalty card which can be collected at any participating restaurant over the promotional period.
