Favourite World Cup game:

South Africa vs.Mexico: June  11 2010: FNB Stadium Soweto. It was the first game of the World Cup 2010 and the whole country was euphoric. The fact that we had pulled it off without any major mishaps was as much a miracle as us being awarded the tournament in the first place. Even though we didn't proceed to the second round, this game lit up our nation. It was amazing to be in South Africa during this time.

Best overall World Cup game and why:

England vs. Argentina 1998, France. This was the one in which Beckham was sent off for kicking an Argentinian player (Diego Simeone), lots of toing and froing during the game, but what stands out for me was Michael Owen's amazing goal - and yes I am a Liverpool fan!

Greatest World Cup goal:

Siphiwe Tshabala scoring the opening goal of the 2010 World Cup vs Mexico. Not only was it an awesome goal, it lifted the entire nation off its feet. I think there was a mini earthquake as everyone jumped up and down, still gives me goose bumps.

Favourite World Cup player and why:

Michael Owen. I know he didn't achieve anything medal wise etc. but in major tournaments and in major games he always seemed to up his game. And my son was born on September 1, 2011, when England beat Germany 5-1 and Owen scored a hat trick.

Best all time English World Cup player:

Difficult to argue with the 1966 crew and Bobby Charlton has to take the plaudits.

Worst all time English World Cup player:

Gazza. Wasted his incredible talent and cried like a baby. Irritated me.

Ideal wine to drink during World Cup Final:

Wine? If it must be wine then it's a bubbly, Pongracz Brut of course!

Personal funny World Cup story:

My son reprised his 2007 Rugby World Cup Final approach by wearing an England shirt under his Bafana Bafana (South Africa) shirt for the 2010 World Cup. By the time they had both been eliminated he was already supporting Spain so at least he was happy.
