International Wine Challenge 2015 open for entries

The International Wine Challenge 2015 is now accepting entries from the first tranche of applicants from now until October 30, 2014.

What is the International Wine Challenge?

The International Wine Challenge 2015 is now accepting entries from the first tranche of applicants from now until October 30, 2014.

Last year was the first time that the IWC allowed for two submission windows.  The idea was that producers and marketing people would find that an earlier entry system was more convenient given their own production timelines, particularly in the Southern Hemisphere.

"The timeline for Tranche one this year will announce medal winners on December 2, 2014.  This could be a great selling tool for those winners trying to make the most of their holiday offerings," said Alex Redfern, IWC wine specialist.

Last year was the first year the competition allowed for different timelines and of the 10% for the IWC were submitted in Tranche one.  "We are up on entries for the Tranche one over last year at this time. I think more people are taking advantage of the different dates and have a better understanding of the new time frames this year," said Redfern.

Important dates to remember for the Tranche 1 include the following:

  • Closing date for paper entries: October 18, 2014
  • Closing date for online entries: October 30, 2014
  • Delivery deadline for samples using the IWC shipping deal: October 17, 2014
  • Samples sent via a private courier must arrive between: November 3-7, 2014
  • Several of the IWC judges and co-chairs participating in the judging portion of last year's IWC 2014.

  • Judging: November 17-21, 2014
  • Medals announced: December 2, 2014

Important dates for Tranche 2 include the following:

  • Entry opens: December 4, 2014
  • Closing date for paper entries: February 13, 2015
  • Closing date for online entries: March 5, 2015
  • Delivery deadline for samples using the IWC shipping deal: February 27,2015
  • Samples sent via a private courier must arrive between: March 2-28, 2015
  • Judging: April 13-24 2015
  • Medals announced: May 13, 2015

All medal winners will be judged together in a final tasting that will be held in late April 2015.
