Burgundy School of Business's recently launched School of Wine & Spirits Business (SWBS) saw the number of students rise by 30% to nearly 140 students for the 2014-2015 academic year.

"I think the programmes are growing and attracting top talent because of the appeal for a degree that is truly international and global. With an average job growth rate in the industry of about 5% a year, the opportunities for our graduates is also helping to grow the number of enrollees in our business school. I think the magic of the products that are at the core of programmes is also incredibly attractive," said Jérôme Gallo, the director of SWBS.

This is the second year of the programme, which launched in November 2013. The Burgundy School of Wine & Spirits Business is made of five different programmes including MSc Wine Business, MSc Wine Management, MS Management des Entreprises Culturelles et des Industries Créatives (MECIC) and the MS Commerce International des Vins et Spiritueux (CIVS), which is running both a full-time and part- time programme.

The five programmes combined have a total of 136 students enrolled for this year's programmes which is up from last year's 103 students.

Gallo is the director of all postgraduate programmes at Burgundy School of Business and Steve Charters heads the SWSB research centre. Charters is a qualified MW and joined the Burgundy School of Business after teaching at Reims Management School located in Champagne, France.

The school has 10 dedicated professors and also has a specialised research centre.

The 2014-2015 academic year kicked off at the Gilly-lès-Cîteaux castle where Gérard Desbois, the previous chief executive and current supervisory board member at JF Hillebrand and the recently elected president of Burgundy School of Business Association addressed the students.

The specialised master MS CIVS is now ranked third in the most recently published Best- Masters.com list and first in France in the "Luxury Management Food and Beverage" category.
