The Duchess of Cornwall toasts Australian wine

Wines from Josef Chromy, Plan B! Wines and Château Tanunda were poured for Her Royal Highness and Wine Australia's chairman, Brian Walsh, and general manager for market development, Stuart Barclay, were formally introduced. A host of Australian luminaries, advocated and invited media also attended.

Josef Chromy's Tasmanian Sparkling NV was served by sales and marketing manager, David Milne, and Plan B! Wines' owner, winemaker and industry veteran Bill Crappsley poured his Sauvignon Blanc 2013 for the Duchess. Meanwhile Château Tanunda's general manager, Matt McCulloch, offered a glass of its new flagship wine, 150 Year Old Vines 1858 Field Blend 2013, a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Malbec from Barossa.

Tying in with its global 'Restaurant Australia' campaign, Tourism Australia presented the with a selection of Australian-inspired cuisines created by some of its leading chefs to match the wines.

Barclay said: "We continue to proudly champion Australia's world-class food and wine evolution, and this event gives us a chance to tell our wine stories by bringing to life the personalities behind the bottles on a prestigious stage."

The great and the good of the Australian wine industry have descended on London today for the Australia Day Tasting, which is taking place at Lindley Hall, with 213 wineries showcasing their wares.
