Seven leading English wine producers will be heading to ProwWein this weekend to help further cement the reputation of home grown wines in the international marketplace.

The English wine stand has become a key focus for international buyers at the show in recent years as the reputation and global status of English still and sparkling wines grows.

This year the English Wine Producers (stand (No A50) will be brushing shoulders will New World wine producing countries and can expect higher footfall from buyers heading to nearby producers from South Africa, New Zealand and California and other countries..

The producers taking part are: Bolney Wine Estate, Chapel Down, Gusbourne Estate, Hattingley Valley, Hush Heath and Ridgeview Wine Estate. Cornwall's award winning winery Camel Valley is going to ProWein for the first time.

"With the export market growing in importance for English wines, ProWein is definitely a 'must-do' event for us,"says Julia Trustram Eve, marketing director at EWP.

"This year we have created more space to allow producers to exhibit their wines and meet with visitors and clients. We think the stand design reflects our pride in our wines and the fact that English wine is a world-class, global player. There will be an exciting range of still and sparkling wines on show this year - with some producers also showing their beer and cider."

The stand will include iconic images of England and hopefully demonstrate the traditions within English winemaking although the wines will be relatively new to most buyers.

There will be a tutored tasting of English sparkling wines with Anne Krebiehl MW on the Falstaff stand (Hall 13 - Stand F10), on March 16 between 4.30pm-5.30pm. She will go through six wines looking at the different styles across different growing areas.

EWP said English wine is now established in 14 export markets and hopes to build on that at this year's ProWein.

Trustram-Eve added: "ProWein has delivered some great sales leads to our producers and resulted in new markets opening. It also provides an excellent platform for producers to meet with their existing customers who are invariably visiting."

It will also be an opportunity to promote the 9th International Cool Climate Wine Symposium (ICCWS) which is taking place in Brighton on May 2016. This three-day event brings together the world's leading figures in cool climate viticulture, winemaking, research and marketing.
