Hospitality sector visitors up 16% at London Wine Fair

Published:  10 June, 2015

London Wine Fair organiser Brintex has reported a 16% increase in visitors from the hospitality sector to this year's exhibition.

Last month's event at Olympia - the second since the LWF returned to west London from Excel in Docklands - received 11,668 visitors, a 4% increase on 2014.

Show director Ross Carter said: "We feel we have delivered a show which really works for both out exhibitor and visitor audience in terms of business, engagement and tasting.

"Many exhibitors have already secured their space for 2016 which we feel is a ringing endorsement."

The event featured 670 exhibitors and the number from the UK hit 130, the highest in the show's history.

Gareth Groves, managing director at Walker & Woodhouse, said: "It's been the first time customers have been able to interact with our wines. Turnout from the independents has been great.

"Our objective was to launch to as many customers as possible and we've been able to do that."

Anita Jackson said the fair had been "really busy with high contingent of sommeliers on the Monday".

She added: "There were high quality visitors and it is great to have a generic presence at such a busy and buzzy fair."
