Johnnie Walker has joined up with the Honda Formula 1 team to launch a campaign for consumers to make an anti-drink-driving pact.

Drivers Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso - along with team chief executive officer Ron Dennis and racing director Eric Bouillier - put their signatures alongside the hashtag #jointhepact and the campaign logo on the Honda cars at last weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The campaign - in conjunction with the Department of Transport's Think! drink-driving activity - aims to collect 5 million commitments from people never to drink and drive between now and 2018.

The appearance of the campaign logo on the cars was seen by an estimated 80 million TV viewers around the world over the weekend.

Andrew Cowan, country director for GB at brand owner Diageo, said: "We want to give a strong message to the public to never drink and drive, and can't think of a more powerful way to do so than to partner with the government and Formula 1 stars to deliver this message with one voice."

Road safety minister Andrew Jones added: "We are calling on drivers to make sure they don't risk their safety and the safety of others by drink-driving this summer."
