Programme announced for fifth annual Great Sherry Tasting

Published:  29 July, 2015

The Sherry Institute has announced the programme for its prestigious annual tasting event, the Great Sherry Tasting 2015.

This is the fifth year the institute has held the tasting, and the event is now the largest Sherry tasting outside of Jerez itself.

Last year over 250 members of the UK trade attended. This year, visitors will be able to sample over 200 Sherries in a wide range of styles and ages.

The tasting also features a masterclass programme comprising three hour-long sessions. Two will be hosted by Beltrán Domecq, president of CRDO Jerez (pictured above).

One session will be on the current vogue for very young 'en rama' Sherries. The other on how the ageing process affects Sherry styles, with particular regard to the palomino grape.

The third session will feature Sarah Jane Evans MW discussing the potential for pairing Sherry with chocolate and cheese.

The Great Sherry Tasting 2015 will be held on 14 September at the Westbury Hotel in Mayfair.
