Bacardí announces new global vice president

Bacardí has appointed Fabio Di Giammarco as its new global vice president. He will oversee the brand's global marketing, with a particular emphasis on improving the brand equity.

Di Giammarco was previously vice president, marketing and commercial, for Bacardí Latin America and Caribbean. He joined Bacardí in 2012 as managing director for Brazil.

Previous drinks industry experience includes marketing strategy for SAB Miller in Latin America. He has also worked in a number of other consumer sectors, with spells at Philips in Europe and South America and Danone in Italy.

The appointment comes after the company refreshed its leadership team at the beginning of the year. It confirmed Mark Dolan as its new chief executive and promoted Dmitry Ivanov to chief marketing officer.

Di Giammarco will report to Ivanov.

Under Di Giammarco's leadership, Bacardí won the highest market share for any rum in Brazil, a position it has maintained since. He also increased distribution in Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile.

Bacardí Brazil was listed as one of the country's top "Great Places to Work" during Di Giammarco's tenure, and the company was also recognized for its progessive diversity practices.

Founded in 1862, Bacardí is sold in some 160 territories and is the largest privately held spirits company in the world. It was recently named as one of the the most reputable companies in the world, according to a survey published in Forbes magazine.

Di Giammarco is an Italian national.
