Bodega Trivento adds Shiraz to best-selling Reserve brand

Published:  09 November, 2015

Bodega Trivento is adding a new wine to its best-selling range in the UK.

The Trivento Reserve Shiraz 2014 has been made by German di Cesare in the mountainous Tupungato region of Mendoza from vines grown at 1200m.

The wine is a blend of 85% Syrah and 15% Malbec and has an ABV of 13.5%. It has been aged for 12 months, six in American oak barrels and a further six in bottle.

Concha y Toro, which distributes Bodega Trivento in the UK, put significant marketing spend behind the brand, including sponsorship of Premiership Rugby.

Trivento is now Argentina's premier wine brand in the UK. The Trivento Reserve Malbec is the UK's best selling Malbec in the off-trade according to IRI figures for the 12 months to October 10, 2015.

Ed Gauntlett, Trivento brand manager, said: "We believe there is massive potential for Argentinean Shiraz - it fits brilliantly alongside our Malbec for those who like spicy, characterful reds.

"As Trivento gets better and better known, the Shiraz is there for those who want to explore the category further."

The Trivento Reserve Shiraz 2014 is available in 750 Tesco stores and elsewhere with an RRP of £8.99.

Sales of Argentine wines grew 35% in the UK off-trade in the year to October 11, 2014, according to figures released by the WSTA.
