Modern Australian Gin gets second release from Four Pillars

The award-winning Australian craft Four Pillars distillery has issued a second release of its Modern Australian Gin.

Modern Australian Gin was initially created in partnership with the Rockpool mixology team for Qantas airlines.

Its first public release sold out within a day of going on sale.

It is an Asian-inflected gin, which uses red and green Szechuan, quandong, macadamia nuts, grapefruit, tangelos and Rosie Glow apples, among other botanicals.

Modern Australian Gin is the second in Four Pillars' Bartenders Series, following on from its Spiced Negroni Gin earlier this year.

Based in the Yarra Valley, Four Pillars raised some £15,000 through Australian crowdfunding site Pozible in 2012 before its first release of Rare Dry Gin in December 2013.

The team behind Four Pillars has extensive experience in the Australian wine trade.

The company a new CARL copper-pot still named Wilma, which produces small batches of 460 bottles.

Other releases include a Barrel Aged Gin launched on World Gin Day in 2014, and a Navy Strength Gin at 58.8% abv.
