Barwell & Jones underscores growth strategy with three sales hires

Published:  13 January, 2016

Essex-based wine agency Barwell & Jones has announced three key new appointments to its sales team as it drives for growth in 2016.

Two of the appointments are focused on the on-trade. Clare Lambert joins as national account manager with responsibility for wholesalers, hotel groups, pub groups and restaurant groups, while Amanda Currie will work on Barwell & Jones portfolio in the London on-trade.

Lambert was previously UK brand ambassador for Champagne Henriot and has extensive experience in the trade, including working on fine wine sales for John E Fells.

Currie, who trained as a lawyer, was head sommelier at Vivat Bacchus before joining Coe Vintners.

Chris Connell has joined the sales team as business development manager with a remit to grow Barwell & Jones' business among independent retailers in London and the south east.

Connell worked at Majestic Wine for three years before coming to Barwell & Jones.

These new appointments follow on from the recruitment of Tim Gray in the autumn, who joined business development manager for London with a brief to extend Barwell & Jones' reach in the on-trade.

Steven Gerrard, managing director of Barwell & Jones, said: "We've seen good growth in the last two years and naturally the next step is to expand our team.

"We are delighted to welcome Clare, Amanda and Chris to the sales team. Their combined experience will help us fulfil our ambitious growth plans and drive the business forward over the next few years."

Barwell & Jones has recently added New Zealand winery Summerhouse Wines to the twenty-plus family-owned vineyards it already represents, which include Zorzal and Lagarde in Argentina, Pizzato and Perini in Brazil, and Pueblo del Sol in Uruguay.
