Dunnet Bay launches limited edition Rock Rose seasonal gin range

Published:  21 March, 2016

Scotland's award-winning Dunnet Bay Distillery is to launch a series of Rock Rose Gin 'Seasonal Editions', kicking off with a Spring edition, which will be available by May.

Rock Rose Spring features both traditional and local botanicals foraged from nearby cliffs and forests.

It is described as having a crisp, fresh flavour and a long, smooth finish.

Rock Rose's signature ceramic bottle-design has been refreshed for spring, with bright seasonal greens and yellows.

Dunnet Bay, which is situated in Caithness and is the most northerly distillery in mainland Britain, was launched by husband and wife team, Martin and Claire Murray, who hand-distill each batch.

Martin Murray said: "The launch of our seasonal editions gives us even more opportunity to express the heritage and provenance of Caithness through our gin.

"We have been overwhelmed by the response from the industry to Rock Rose Gin date and hope these limited editions are another exciting proposition.

"We believe the limited editions make great gifts for gin lovers and collectors and also that the striking bottles will provide strong bar presence."

Dunnet Bay was one of only twelve locations in Scotland chosen to feature in the Wine & Spirit Trade Association's Scotland Gin Trail earlier this year.

Around 70% of the UK's gin is now produced in Scotland, and Edinburgh consumes more gin per person than any other city in the UK.

Some 49 new gin distilleries open across the UK in 2015, while off-trade sales hit £400 million for the first time and on-trade sales climbed above £500 million.

Off-trade volumes grew 10% in the twelve months to January 30, 2016, according to data from Nielsen, while on-trade volumes were up 20%.

Since 2010, 29 gin distilleries have opened in Scotland.

Rock Rose limited edition seasonal expressions will carry an RRP of £37.50.
