Premium yuzu liqueur from Isake International goes on sale in Selfridges

Published:  30 March, 2016

Isake International has announced the launch of a new premium yuzu liqueur, which will be available through Selfridges from next month.

Enamor was created by Isake International co-founder Xavier Chapelou in partnership with Indian philanthropist Seema Lohia, sister of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal.

The liqueur blends sake with Japanese citrus yuzu and is described as balancing keen grapefruit notes with the scent of fresh bergamot.

Chapelou said: "I was deeply honoured when Ms. Lohia approached me to be involved with the creation of this exciting new drink.

"I was flattered that she was aware of my previous work in regards to Isake Classic Sake and Prucia Plum Liqueur. With Enamor, I am confident we have managed to capture both her warmth and elegance."

Enamor is designed to be a fusion of Japanese, French and Indian cultures. Recommended serves include on the rocks with a twist or as an alternative to a Margarita.

Isake International was founded in 2004 by Chapelou, a French sommelier, and sake expert Kumiko Ohta and was the first importer to make a range vintage sakes available on the European market.

Sake continues to grow in popularity in the UK as trade and consumers alike become more educated about its history, provenance and diversity.

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust established a Level 3 sake qualification two years ago, and is set to launch a new WSET Level 1 award in August.

The London Wine Fair will also feature a major sake presence for the first time this year, hosting a Sake Pavilion which is to be curated by Natsuki Kikuya from the Museum of Sake.
