Published:  25 May, 2016

Henkell & Co announced yesterday that they have purchased the remaining 40% share of Copestick Murray.

Henkell & Co announced that they have purchased the remaining 40% share of Copestick Murray.

The sale was completed yesterday for undisclosed sum.

"We are very pleased with the progress of Copestick Murray since we purchased 60% of the company in September 2013. As a result all the interested parties agreed that the time was right for Henkell & Co. to wholly own Copestick Murray," said chief executive officer of Henkell & Co, Dr. Andreas Brokemper.

Robin Copestick, who co-founded the business in 2005 with Paul Murray, will remain as the managing director of Copestick Murray.

"It was always our intention to sell the remaining part of the business to Henkell & Co at some stage.  But they approached us and they have been very pleased with how the business has been growing since they initially invested in the company," Copestick told harpers.co.uk.

The initial stake of the business that was sold has helped the company grow substantially over the past three years .

"The financial stability that we have received from Henkell has been great. But it is really the access that we have had to their winery and the wines they produce, which has been significant for us. We are now a direct supplier and this just helps to further consolidate the business. Close to 35% of the wines we got last year came from Henkell, which we didn't have access to three years ago and that has been massive for us," said Copestick.

Copestick is excited about the future and is pleased that he gets to remain on as the business continues to grow. "I am really having the best time with my work right now and couldn't be more pleased," said Copestick.

The future looks bright as the company continues to expand its i Heart Wine brands and its Prosecco brand Mionetto in the UK.

Copestick said: "We are proud of the achievement, very grateful to the very many key staff who have contributed to this success and we feel very fortunate to have found such a great partner in Henkell & Co. I am looking to the future with huge optimism and excitement."
