Top News: Some big changes have been announced over the past week. In the UK, Tesco announced the sale of ailing family restaurant chain Giraffe, while across the pond Constellation is in talks to float its Canadian wine division and Treasury Wine Estates announced it would be making changes to its supply and production operations in California.

Meanwhile, Tim Aktin MW continued the Spain debate and sulphur continued to be a controversial subject as the president of the OIV issued a warning over the push to reduce sulphur levels in wine.

Results: Some of the industry's biggest players released their sales figures with some interesting results. Brown-Forman mitigated a 2% drop in sales with the sale of Southern Confort and Tuaca, while Sainsbury's Q1 sales slid following the phasing out of multi-buy deals. Diageo also announced it was dropping its previous objective of obtaining 50% of its sales from emerging markets by 2015 due to flagging growth in those areas.
